Introducing an Advance in the Relief and Improvement of IBS Symptoms
Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) is a common disorder that impacts 15-20% of the Canadian population, but only a small portion of IBS sufferers seek medical attention or know what management options exist. While the cause of IBS is not completely understood, symptoms appear to be the result of an overly sensitive GI tract, and problems can worsen with certain foods and stress. IBS symptoms include abdominal pain, bloating, diarrhea, constipation, urgency, gas, pain at evacuation, and a sense of an incomplete bowel movement. There is no cure for IBS, but there are ways to manage IBS and its symptoms.
Diet and IBS
Monitoring what you eat is an important part of the management of IBS. Food triggers can vary from person to person. It is recommended that you monitor your eating habits to better understand which foods may trigger your IBS symptoms. Diet alone may not be enough to manage your IBS, but it should be part of your overall IBS program implemented with your healthcare practitioner.
Start with IBgard®
IBgard® uses the precision of SST® (Site Specific Targeting) technology. This technology delivers microspheres of l-Menthol, the primary active ingredient in peppermint oil, quickly and reliably where they are needed the most for IBS – in the small intestine. IBgard® helps relieve and improve IBS symptoms.
IBgard® is the only peppermint oil formulated into tiny microspheres to help deliver product quickly and reliably to the lower gut while minimizing the potential for heartburn, which is a common side effect of peppermint oil. In a recent randomized, multi-centered, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial, IBgard® was shown to start working in as early as 24 hours, and this benefit grew when measured at four weeks*.
IBgard® should be taken as directed on the product label. The recommended adult dosage is: 2 capsules, three times a day. Take at least 30 to 90 minutes before each meal, with approximately 240 mL of water. Do not exceed six capsules per day. Swallow capsules whole.
